ONE-OF-A-KIND TAP TAKEOVER EVENT TO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY.
Scottish women’s beer appreciation groups Glasladies Beer Society and Women in Beer UK have once again joined forces to brew a celebration beer for International Women’s Day 2026. The collaboration is part of International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD), a global event that seeks to shine a light on women in the beer industry and raise funds for various women’s causes.
Edinburgh’s Moonwake Brewing Co. and Glasgow’s Mother Tongue Brewing signed on as partners in this project to brew a lagered Cold IPA that showcases the new-to-market Dolcita™ hops from Yakima Chief Hops, alongside NovaLager™ yeast from Lallemand.
The collab beer is scheduled for release this month, with the official Glasgow launch on Wednesday, 11 March at Inn Deep from 6PM onwards, and in Edinburgh on 13 March at Victoria Bar. Both events are open to all members of the public and everyone is welcome to attend.
The Glasgow launch at Inn Deep (445 Great Western Road), will feature a tap takeover of IWCBD beers from 12 breweries around the UK. Sandy MacMillan, manager at Inn Deep said: “We’re very excited to promote the work of Glasladies Beer Society and all female brewers, hospitality workers, and lovers of beer everywhere. As an independent beer bar, the best way we can honour International Women’s Day and the women making huge strides in our industry, is by filling our guest taps with the incredible beers brewed for this project and ensuring as many of our customers as possible can enjoy them. Organisations like Glasladies Beer Society help highlight the fantastic work of female brewers but also give power to all women who love a good pint.”
The tap takeover at Inn Deep will also feature the opportunity to meet and talk to the brewers from both Moonwake and Mother Tongue and a chance to win some great beer-y prizes via a lucky dip.
Nix Prabhu, Founder of the Glasladies Beer Society said: “Being part of IWCBD is a great way to highlight the roles that women play in the beer industry, from producers, back-office, hospitality roles and of course as a huge consumer population. This year, it is particularly exciting to be able to feature not only our collab beer, but also many more IWCBD beers from right across the UK. The launch is going to be a fantastic event, and we hope that many will join us.”
In addition, Dolcita™ Cold IPA will be pouring at several other locations in both cities making for an interesting pub trail.
Part of the proceeds from sales will be donated to the Women In Beer Mentorship Programme that provides practical assistance to the career development of women in the industry, and also to Women on Wheels, a Glasgow charity that empowers women of all backgrounds and abilities to become confident cyclists. Shgufta Anwar from Women on Wheels said: “Creating safe and welcoming spaces for women and non-binary people to come together to connect, inspire and learn from one another is invaluable. This is even more important in predominantly male dominated spaces like cycling and beer brewing. We are delighted to have been chosen as this year's charitable beneficiary for the International Women's Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD) project"
